For your convenience

here are official diagnostic tests of both the ACT and the Digital SAT.

Here are a few notes to help you have a pleasurable, accurate at-home testing experience:

*Please take each at roughly the same time (8am or 9am preferred!), a few days to a week apart.

*Make sure there are no distractions.

*Make sure SOMEONE OTHER THAN THE TEST-TAKER is timing the whole thing, and please stick to the prescribed time limits. (We want a good, fair comparison between the two tests.)

ACT Directions:

1) Download the Diagnostic ACT HERE
2) Print out the test.
3) Take the test!

The multiple choice test starts on page 12 and ends on page 51, with a bubble sheet on pages 56. You can skip the essay for diagnostic testing purposes.

For Regular Time, stick with this schedule:

Math           60 minutes

-- 10 minute break --

Reading      35 minutes
Science       35 minutes

For Extended Time, here's your schedule:

4) Score your test! The answers and grading chart can be found on pages 64-67.

Digital SAT Directions:

Option 1 (preferred): Take it Digitally

1) Install the Bluebook app and make a College Board account, if you haven't already.

2) Open the Bluebook app

 —> select “Full-Length Practice”

 —> select “SAT”

 —> select “Practice Test 1”

—> if you get extended time or accommodations, select which ones, so the app times you correctly.

3) Take the test!

It’s 2 hrs 14 min for a regular-time test taker, and the app times you automatically.

4) Score your test!

The Bluebook app grades your test automatically! Just log into your College Board student account to see your score and which problems you missed.

Option 2 (NOT preferred): Take a paper version of the test

1) Download the paper (“linear, non-adaptive”) version of the test here.

This is slightly longer than the digital one would be, but you don’t have to install apps on your laptop!

2) Take the test!

In the NYC area, Bespoke Education is pretty good for mock testing.
